Kim-Box #50

Kim wrote a request after I had stopped sending boxes out. I was quite discouraged from everybody not sending SOMETHINGS back, but Kim was earnest and sincere enough in her promise to send it back. I figured "What the heck?" and sent her box #50. About a week later I got it back and my faith in the project has been revived!

Box #1-Jillian

Jillian in Colorado made this from box #1. Yes, Jillian was in the first group to accept the mission and received the #1 box. Jillian used EVERYTHING in her box-- even the box itself!

Natalie in NY

Natalie in NY created this from Box #14. Thanks Natalie!

Debbie's SOMETHING

'Word Play Game' created by Debbie Grumet of New York. She used almost everything from her original box including: 3 small envelopes, puzzle pieces, a page ripped out of a book, a vintage post card, a white box, a plastic bat toy, 3 blue blocks, a crad that said 'Defiance'...
A lot of thought and creativity was put into this SOMETHING! Thank you for participating Debbie!

and created a miniature art quilt.

MAKE SOMETHING

This was the original message posted on MySpace and Craigslist. It is now a project including over 40 artists around the world! Unfortunately MAKE SOMETHING'S resources have come to an end and can no longer fulfill new requests for boxes. Please email me if you are interested in our waiting list, or if you have ideas of how we can continue sending out boxes!
Original message: Your mission (if you choose to accept it) is: 1) Send your mailing address and why you want to be a part of this project (or if you have a friend that would be interested, tell why you think they would love it) 2) Wait for a package to arrive (I will email you when I send it) 3) The package will contain various art and craft supplies, toys, fabric, gadgets, or whatever might make you explore your creativity 4) MAKE SOMETHING from the contents of your package. You can use one thing, all, the box, whatever. You can also use whatever you'd like in addition- glue, paint, thread, whatever. You can use the objects as utensils, inspiration, or in the project itself. 5)If you want you can write a little bit about your SOMETHING and/or your process and/or yourself and/or art and/or whatever 6)Send SOMETHING back + anything you didn't use + anything you may choose to donate to the project (we all have a lot of crap, don't we?). The label with the return address will be included in the contents of your package.

The idea is that creative talents will be stretched and things will emerge that no one else could have thought of except you. After enough SOMETHINGS are completed they will be compiled into an exhibition and shown around the world!

*If you have stuff you would like to donate but do not want to participate, send a message! We will accept whatever you've got if you think it would be useful to the MAKE SOMETHING-ers!
